Step by step
- Install the LabelInn Windows app and your Microsoft SQL Server client driver on the machine that will run the job.
- Add the Microsoft SQL Server connection: host, port 1433, database and a database user that can read the tables you need.
- Write the Microsoft T-SQL query that returns exactly the rows you want to label, one row per label.
- Map each result column onto a label field — text, barcode, QR or RFID — then preview a few rows.

Practical notes for this pairing
- At 203 DPI a single printer dot is about 0.125 mm. Size barcodes in whole dots so the narrow bar lands on an exact dot boundary and stays scannable.
- The ZM400 prints up to 104 mm wide. Check the widest value your Database data can produce against that width before running a full batch.
- Connections available on this model: USB, Ethernet (variant-dependent), Wi-Fi (variant-dependent). Pick the one the machine running the job can actually reach.

Requirements for a direct database connection
- Direct database connections need the LabelInn Windows desktop app — the connector that loads real database drivers is a Windows sidecar, so this path is not available on macOS today.
- You supply the Microsoft SQL Server client driver; LabelInn does not redistribute database drivers.
- Point the connection at a read-only database user. LabelInn reads rows to fill labels — it should never need write access.
- While you are testing, keep the query small with `SELECT TOP n …` so a preview cannot pull an entire table.
