Print labels on the Zebra ZD621 from a SQL database
Print labels on the Zebra ZD621 from a SQL database. ZPL II at 203 DPI, 104 mm wide, with column-to-field binding straight from your rows.

HOW IT WORKS
Three screens from data to printed label.
No copy-paste, no hunting for templates. The same flow repeats for every record.

Choose the engine, test the connection and browse the schema.

A named, parameterised query returns the rows a label needs.

Preview, pick the printer and print the result.
01
Who this is for
Teams that already own a Zebra ZD621 and keep the data they label in Database.
02
Step by step
- Install the LabelInn Windows app and your Microsoft SQL Server client driver on the machine that will run the job.
- Add the Microsoft SQL Server connection: host, port 1433, database and a database user that can read the tables you need.
- Write the Microsoft T-SQL query that returns exactly the rows you want to label, one row per label.
- Map each result column onto a label field — text, barcode, QR or RFID — then preview a few rows.
- Print the result set, or save the query so the next run is one click.

Practical notes for this pairing
- At 203 DPI a single printer dot is about 0.125 mm. Size barcodes in whole dots so the narrow bar lands on an exact dot boundary and stays scannable.
- The ZD621 prints up to 104 mm wide. Check the widest value your Database data can produce against that width before running a full batch.
- Connections available on this model: USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi (variant-dependent), Bluetooth (variant-dependent). Pick the one the machine running the job can actually reach.
- LabelInn sends ZPL II straight to the ZD621, so the label your data fills is rendered by the printer itself rather than by an operating-system driver.

Requirements for a direct database connection
- Direct database connections need the LabelInn Windows desktop app — the connector that loads real database drivers is a Windows sidecar, so this path is not available on macOS today.
- You supply the Microsoft SQL Server client driver; LabelInn does not redistribute database drivers.
- Point the connection at a read-only database user. LabelInn reads rows to fill labels — it should never need write access.
- While you are testing, keep the query small with `SELECT TOP n …` so a preview cannot pull an entire table.

QUESTIONS / FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can the Zebra ZD621 print labels directly from a SQL database?
Yes. LabelInn reads your Database data, binds the columns to fields on a label template sized for this printer, and drives the ZD621 over the connection you selected. You do not export an intermediate file per run.
Do I need a driver for the Zebra ZD621?
For the direct ZPL II path, no — LabelInn generates the command stream and sends it over the connection you selected.
