BarTender Alternative With an API: Print by REST Call
Replace BarTender web-service printing with a REST call: POST /v1/print/jobs, an idempotency key, the runtime near the printer, and the Pro plan.
SHORT ANSWER
Short answer. Seagull's pricing page lists REST APIs and File Drop from the BarTender Automation edition at $575 a year on-premises. In LabelInn the same job is one HTTPS call: POST /v1/print/jobs with a printer id, a design id and the field values, plus an idempotency key so a retry cannot print twice. It needs a LabelInn runtime near the printer and the Pro plan, and it does not replace BarTender's XML, TCP or SAP integrations.
BarTender is billed annually: on-premises from $199 (Starter), $299 (Professional) and $575 (Automation) a year, read from Seagull's own page on 17 Oct 2026. Which edition your data source needs depends on your version, so check before you renew. LabelInn: The REST API is on Pro at $24.90 a month ($249.00 a year). The request shape from our API reference. The idempotency key is the receipt number, so a second delivery of the same message prints nothing new.

- Create an API key in your account. Use an
sk_test_key while you build; production use needs Pro. - Build the label in LabelInn (or import the .btw) and note its design id and the printer id.
- Map your system's fields to the label's field names and send the request above.
